seniors training

Hi again all,

Regarding this Sundays training in Romford, 24 Feb.

Due to lack of numbers (many girls being required for club committments), Chris and I have decided to cancel training for the BACKS ONLY.

But we would really like to go ahead with training for the FORWARDS and know that as a unit we will all benefit greatly from an intense session together focussing specifically on scrums, general attack options and attack at the breakdown.

Due to the limited numbers we may look to finish a bit earlier.

Remember training is on at Romford starting at 1. Finishing around 3:30.

Please inform me if you cannot make training.

Please check the blog prior to our final game - 9 march at Welwyn for team list and details.
Cheers

Sunday Feb 10th

East region travelled en mass to Yorkshire on sunday.

A big thank you goes to all at Dinnington Rugby club who generously hosted the days rugby and made all the visiting squad members and their families welcome.

The 3 squads suffered mixed results on the day, with the U15's being the only ones who returned with a well earned win under their belts.

Seniors.

A hard fought game saw the ladies go down 24-10.

U18's

As with the Senior ladies, it was a hard fought game with no quarter being given by either team, however Yorkshire had the killer edge and came away 28-5 winners.

Tries; East Hannah Gallagher(Herts)
Yorks Claire Garner (2) Amie Clitheroe, Charlotte Frampton
Cons: Claire Garner(1)
Pens Claire Garner(2)

U15's

After a tentative start, the girls started to find their rhythm and by half time had a 10-5 lead.
With the coaches making a few changes at half time, the girls soon built up a 25-5 lead.
Both teams played the game at a fast pace with both sets of forwards making some big tackles, and the backs continually trying to find gaps in the Yorkshire defence.
Well done to both teams for an entertaining game of rugby.

Tries: East Courtney Arberry, Alice Finn (Herts) Alex Grant,Abbie Cook, Olivia Stembridge (Essex)
Yorks Bianca Blackburn

Well done ladies and Girls.

seniors selections

Hi all,
Firstly a huge well done for Sundays effort. For our first game as a team against a well drilled opposition, we showed committment and great team spirit . It is obvious there is still alot to improve on but I think we can take positives from the game and continue to work forward as a unit.

1 - Re: Kit - Do those who got the wrong sizes want to return their kit to Cantebury? (after first attempting to swap between other team members??) It is your decision. If you do, please bring it - packaged with necessary information attached, on Sunday.
2 - I have been asked if you all would consider giving our playing strip to the U'18's in exchange for thiers now or at the end of the season!! Thiers is too small for some. Any comments please text or e-mail. I have to make a decision ASAP. I can probably guess what the responses are going to be.

The squad for this weekend is as follows: (Heres hoping i got all the names right this time: please ring or text should there be any confusions!!)

At the roundabout take the second exit onto the B6060 (Outgang lane). After approximately 0.5 miles you will see Manor Motorsport on your right, then take the next LEFT onto Laughton road - if you see Tesco on your left you have missed the junction. Go over the Mini-roundabout with the Squirrel Pub on your right, and after 50 yards take your next LEFT onto Doe Quarry lane. Carry on up past Rother Valley College and then Dinnington Comprehensive until you reach the crossroads with the Lordens Hotel pub on your left. Go straight ahead at the crossroads and and will see the Rugby Club on your LEFT after 150 yards.

From A1
From the A1 Junction with the A57, follow the A57 for approximately 7 miles around the outskirts of Worksop going over numerous roundabouts. Once you see Sainsbury's on your left you continue on the A57 going over the next roundabout still on the A57, then at the next roundabout take the SECOND exit for Woodsetts and Dinnington. Follow Worskop road through into Woodsetts and at the crossroads in the village turn RIGHT onto Gildingwells road. Continue along this road as it turns into Woodsetts road and after approximately 1mile you will reach a crossroads. Turn LEFT onto Red Quarry Lane and continue for around 1 mile and the Rugby Club is on the RIGHT.

The Coach will be picking up players at the Following Locations

Lakeside Services Thurrock 7.30am
South Mimms Services 8.15am
Peterborough Services (A1) 9.15am

Please email me by tuesday pm to confirm that you are still available and to advise which pick up point you will be attending.
Please ensure that you are at the relevant pick up point in time, as the coach must leave at the times shown to give sufficient time to travel to Sheffield.

As discussed today, please ensure that you bring black shorts with you.
At this moment it is not certain that Canterbury will get your kit to us in time for Sundays game.
I have the socks, which I will hand out on sunday.
