quite amazing how players who didnt go to a number of trainings and games they were ment to play in have been seleted to the final team. what message does this send to other players for future seasons regarding commitment.

I can categorically state that any girl who missed a training session did so with permission and good reason.

If you would like to discuss your grievance with me, the Coaches or Programme Manager then please feel free so to do, I suspect you already have our numbers.

To the person who posted the anonymous comment, I understand the disappointment of the players who did not get into the final squad.
Unfortunately we could not take all those players who trialed and then were subsequently selected for the regional programme.
I accept that there were girls who missed training sessions due to other commitments, however at the start of the programme the team managers handed forms to all players to fill in to advise if they would be unable to attend any training session due to prior commitments.
to my knowledge those girls who missed training sessions did give prior notice and were therefore excused training.
the coaches had a difficult decision to make when selecting the final squad and did not leave any player out lightly.
If you feel that you have been unfairly treated, please drop me a line to my email address which is on all the correspondance and I will speak to the WRDM and the coaches.
The last thing I want is to discourage any girl from playing Regional rugby now or in the future, as the game is for the girls not those who run it.

I don't personally like 'anonymous' postings, and I believe it is important for rugby players to have other interests, sometimes these will clash with their rugby interests resulting in them not being able to attend matches and/or training sessions.
Surely 'anonymous' is not advocating that these girls are excluded purely because they could not attend ALL of the sessions/matches.
My daughter has made the final U15 squad to travel to Litchfield (much to our suprise) and I have heard rumours that there are girls in that squad who have not been to every session, but as Phil has said if they have had prior permission then I can see no reason why they shouldn't be selected.
I can see 'anaonymouses' point that some of the girls who have not been selected have perhaps shown more commitment, some travelling more than 160 miles to attend sessions but I am sure the selections have been made purely on 'rugby' grounds.

So no regional girls rugby since May 2008. Shame that.
